My Radio Flyer
Robert A. Shellady • Iowa City, Iowa
With the war safely behind us in June 1948, the Radio Flyer became a part of our imaginary journey to the Old West of Gene Autrey and Roy Rogers as a cozy covered wagon in my thirteen-year-old mind.
Now that I’m a sixty-year-old grandfather, these “little red wagon memories” came rolling back as I purchased a shiny new Town and Country wagon for my beautiful granddaughter and another for a grandson just born. I can hope their Radio Flyers will be so filled with pleasant memories. But, after all, that part is “assembly required” on their part!
