My
Radio Flyer Thomas D. Anderson
• Manchester, Connecticut |
That’s me, Tommy, on the
left with Spotty and my brother Jimmy. Uncle Wally bought
us the Radio Flyer in 1947 when our baby brother was born.
It served as our race car, our entry in the Fourth of
July parade – wrapped in red, white, and blue bunting
– and, covered with a cardboard box, our conestoga
wagon, until Spotty just sat down and refused his part
as the young pioneers’ draft horse. Our Radio Flyer
lasted a long time. Its uses changed from race car to
utility hauler as we grew. Now my toddler owns one, a
gift for all ages. |
