My
Radio Flyer Barbara Dawn
Meyer • Morton Grove, Illinois |
This photo was taken September
19, 1950. My father made several sacrifices to see that
I had a wagon for my birthday, which I did not know at
the time. We lived in a small rural town in Wisconsin,
and money was scarce, to say the least. I loved my Radio
Flyer wagon and used it to haul hay bales to feed thirty
head of cattle. I hauled four bales with the help of either
my mom, sister, or brother – which had to be done
twice daily. I left home in 1965, and lost track of my
wagon. It was handed down to my younger sister and brother,
who used it for odd jobs on our farm. I will always cherish
my memories of its use. |
